In
cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, CSAS organized a one-day
conference on 'Energy Security, Reviving the Economy and Nepal's
National Interests' on July 26, 2010 at Hotel Annapurna, Kathmandu.
President of the FNCCI Mr. Kush Kumar Joshi gave the keynote statement. 5
papers were presented on the occasion by Mr. Madhukar SJB Rana (former
Finance Minister), Mr. Dipak Gyawali (former Water Resources Minister),
Mr. Suman Neupane (General Manage Sunrise Bank Ltd.), Dr. Riddhi Bir
Singh (Centre for Energy Studies, T.U.) and Prof. Subhanil Chowdhury of
the Kolkata University. Prof. Chowdhury had read out a paper by Prof.
Nisha Taneja of the ICREAR, New Delhi on Indo-Nepal Trade issues.
Dr.
Beatrice Gorawantschy, Head of the KAS for India and SAARC thanked the
CSAS Director Mr. Pandey and the whole team for the successful holding
of the conference.

Schuster spoke about the experiences of federalism at a talk program
held jointly by CSAS and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung at Hotel
Shangri-La on Feb. 28, 2010. Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar
Gachhedar was the chief guest of the occasion. Head of the KAS for India
and SAARC Dr. Beatrice Gorawantschy and Director of CSAS Nishchal N.
Pandey also spoke on the occasion which was covered well by the Nepali
media. Ambassador of Germany to Nepal Verena Grafin von Roedern was also
present at the program.
